Athletic Hope - Milk Cup 2007

We were approached by Caroline Curtis on behalf of Athletic Hope early this year.

Caroline explained that Athletic Hope were trying to raise funds to bring a football team from Argentina over to Northern Ireland to take part in the 2007 Milk Cup.

The team is from Atlético M.E.D.E.A. in Argentina's second largest city, Córdoba. The Club's home ground is in one of the poorest and most dangerous parts of the city. The Club has boys from five to fifteen years old. Their worlds are very restrictive due to poverty and lack of opportunity.

The Club was originally started to rescue kids and young people from weapons, drugs (cocaine) and alcohol. Their names have been put forward to play in the Junior Section of the prestigious Milk Cup Tournament.

It will be a great opportunity to welcome these youngsters who have so little but who come from one of the greatest footballing nations in the world.

Downpatrick Credit Union Ltd sponsored £200 towards this cause. Pictured below are Philip Blair, Niall McNeill and Amanda Williams from Downpatrick Credit Union Ltd presenting a chegue to Caroline Curtis of Athletic Hope.
